The Lock Keeper, Chester

Nestled in the heart of Chester city centre, the Lock Keeper enjoys a prime canal-side location, making its outdoor space a key feature in the pub’s appeal. Recognising this, Trust Inns undertook a significant refurbishment of the front terrace in summer 2022, enhancing the space for customers looking to enjoy the sunshine. The area was reconfigured to create more seating capacity, and stylish new garden furniture was introduced, giving the space a fresh and inviting look.

In February 2025, our team caught up with the current tenant, who shared their journey since taking on the lease. They faced initial challenges, as the pub required extensive cosmetic improvements, including upholstery updates and redecorating. During this period, the pub was closed for a few weeks to restore it to a high standard—but the results speak for themselves!

Now, the Lock Keeper boasts a modern, fresh, and welcoming atmosphere, both inside and out. This transformation highlights the impact of great recruitment, the dedication of our BDMs, and the value of investment in our estate—all contributing to our philosophy of Better Pubs Through Better People.
